PALOMA 2000 MERLOT, NAPA, ($45.00) Red 87
Much lighter than recent examples from this high quality winery run by Proprietor
Jim Richards, the 2000 possesses a deep ruby color in addition to a sweet
nose of black cherries, currants, cola and smoke. Lush, round, and charming,
but superficial, it will drink well for 4-5 years. Tel. (707) 963-7504 P.S.
In issue #141, the price doe the 1999 Merlot was mistakenly shown as $75,
rather than $45.

Wine: 2000 Paloma Merlot Spring Mountain District
May 1, 2003
Rating: 91
Price: $45
Review:
Comes together nicely, drawing from a rich, supple core of earthy currant
and blackberry flavors, firm rich mineral and chewy tannins, all well-focused.
A bit raw and gritty now, short-term cellaring or decanting is a good bet.
Best from 2004 through 20011. J.L.
